In industries where combustible particles are extracted, the potential for an explosion is increased. It is important for these industries to put into place safety measures that will protect their employees, their infrastructure and their equipment. When a combustible particle is extracted in high concentration in the form of gas, fumes or steam, it only takes a spark to ignite the particles leading to an explosion. Explosion relief equipment is designed to help contain and direct the flames away from the workplace.
Envirox supplies explosion relief and isolation equipment which have been tested according to European and other international standards.
What is an explosion isolation valve?
An explosion isolation valve helps to stop the spread of the explosion pressure waves and flames from the filter to the workplace. The isolation valve has been designed that should an explosion occur within the filter the flap plate will close and lock in position. The approaching flame will be stopped and prevent the explosion from moving beyond the filter.
Isolation valves have an ambient temperature range of -20°C to 60°C, and an operating temperature range of -20°C to +70°C and are constructed from welded carbon steel. The valves have been independently tested to current standards and regulations and are compliant with ATEX and NFPA68 dust explosion protection codes. They are available in a range of sizes for different applications and filter systems
What is an explosion relief vent?
Explosion relief vents are a safety precaution that industries install to protect against the damaging effects of an explosion. These vents are suitable for the protection of dust collectors, filters, reservoir, mills, crushers, cyclones and other equipment. They are designed to allow excess pressure to escape should there be a build-up. The venting hole is covered by a panel that will open when the pressure levels become too high which will release the flames and the pressure. This is needed to keep the flames away from the workshop floor.
Explosion relief vents have a long lifespan, and are resistant to abrasion, mechanical particle impacts and weather damage. They are highly efficient and reliable and are simple and easy to install.
Envirox understands the need to keep employees on the workshop floor safe. When it comes to dust explosions or a potential dust explosion, Envirox is available to provide a solution to which explosion isolation valves and explosion relief vents is needed.
